The original Greenway building was demolished by 1887. So I guess this gives us a date somewhere between 1883-1887 for this image. www.dictionaryofsydney.org/entry/macquarie_lighthouse -AG

Museums of History NSW - State Archives Collection Hmmm, imho no! The date has to be 1883, because "the lantern was removed from the old tower ... " (see quote above). I take this to mean the lamp and the glass windows, otherwise there would be a blind spot due east and confusing reflections from the windows.

Because the people are the same, it implies that the old lantern was demolished when this wonderful photo from the old to the new lighthouse was taken. -
