The militant suffragist, "General" Rosalie Jones, who had led a women's rights march from New York to Washington in January, 1913 (designed to seize publicity during festivities surrounding the inauguration of President Woodrow Wilson) followed that feat in December-January [1913-1914] with a march of suffragists from New York City to Albany.

Thank you, LOC, for uploading these wonderful photos of the suffragettes...I am a male, but I have always been for women's rights, and I cannot believe that in this country, women were NOT allowed to vote for many, many years. I am sorry, but it just shows that men thought they were somehow better than women because they were stronger physically.

Anyone know who the unusually tall woman is in these photos, to the left in most of the shots?
-
Wystan said:
She may be Eva Ward, who was a visiting suffragist from England.

Aha, that's exactly who it is--thank you! To confirm, I googled her name with "suffrage" and found a photo of her accompanying an article. The article mentions that she is "probably over six feet in height and... looks the part of a militant more than Mrs. Pankhurst ever did."
