Flood damaged railway bridge over the Burdekin River, 1917

1-4 January 1917 Severe flooding in the north-eastern part of the State. Unprecedented floods in Flinders River; great damage to property; enormous loss of stock and several persons drowned. A portion of Burdekin Railway Bridge washed away. 1-14 February 1917 Widespread and serious flooding in most of the inland rivers, especially in the southwest where some record levels reached. Considerable damage to railway lines, fences, &c. Several towns were isolated. Burdekin River flooded. 22 November 1917 Local heavy floods in various parts of central and south-eastern districts, especially between Emerald and Clermont, where bridges and lines were damaged.
