This must have been taken early in the 1913 season, because Grant was traded to the Giants later that season. In fact, a memorial plaque for Grant was erected at the Polo Grounds and remained there until the ballpark was razed. And regarding the attendance comment -- that was taken during warmups, for one thing, and for another attendance figures were much smaller then (no night baseball, or Sunday ball in some areas). I don't believe a team drew a million until after World War I.
