That's Tottenham Court Road at the junction with Oxford Street. The building on the left was demolished in 1928 to make way for the Dominion Theatre.

The bus on route 14, XN5034, is a Leyland LB of 'Omega', which they bought secondhand in 1924. It was their only bus and they kept it until replacement by a new bus in 1931. I cannot make out the full registration of the bus in front on route 284 but it is from the 'Overground' fleet and all their XT-registered buses were Dennises. It is going all the way to Hadley Highstone, north of Barnet. The covered top bus going the other way is a 'General' NS-type - the Metropolitan Police had only finally given permission for the operation of the covered top version at the beginning of 1926 following experimental operation the previous year, so this is an early one.

Buses no longer run along here, but have to go round Trafalgar Square on the other three sides. This is pedestrian only.

Interesting that buses actually stood here when taking their layover. The one in front is an independent operator, or 'Pirate' as the General called them. It is going all the way to Waltham Cross and would be in competition with that 29 for much of the way.

Neither of these deckers are Leylands - the one on the left is a Dennis similar to this, and the one on the right, with the General radiator badge, is an AEC NS.
