A. Bailly-Blanchard (LOC)

LOC: Bain's caption renders the name as "A. Bailly-Blanchard".
  • Richard Norton said:
I started a biography of him for Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur Bailly-Blanchard The spelling "Arthur Bailly-Blanchard" gets the most hits in Google.
  • Ryan (LOC P&P) said:
It appears that the Bain caption has the correct spelling: Bailly-Blanchard, which is also how it is spelled on the website Political Graveyard. The New York Times article noting his death in 1925 spells the name: Bai!ly-Blanchard in the headline. One more source would confirm for the change to the caption. Thanks so much.
  • Ryan (LOC P&P) said:
Good enough for me. Thanks Richard Arthur Norton, we'll correct the spelling of the name in the caption the next time we update the record.

This place has a slightly haunting, eerie feeling to it. Perhaps it's the lighting plus the statues in the windows!
  • National Library of Ireland on The Commons said:
Mike | MP-P Maybe so, but there's always something slightly desolate about an empty classroom, don't you think?

"The Desolation of An Empty Classroom", now there is a title for a book, poem, photo series, collage, whatever you want. Wonderful photo above. A hint of unease as -MJP- commented. Do I see draughts (checkers) boards on the table there?
