    History Landsborough State School has a long and proud history. It opened its doors in 1879, reaching its 143-year milestone in 2022. The Landsborough Township began as a stop on the Cobb & Co coaches on the way to Gympie and the main industry was timber. The school became a State School in 1909. The current administration area was built in 1920 with classroom extensions completed in 1946 and 1953. The school continued to grow, adding extra buildings along the way.     It was Wednesday 13 May 1903, according to a report in the next day's Sydney Morning Herald -


    ... ... This morning his Excellency[*] visited the hospital, where every arrangement had been made for his reception. His Excellency went to the Market Reserve, where a large number of persons were assembled. He shook hands with several aboriginal kings. A procession was formed, consisting of four mounted police, then 400 children belonging to the Casino Public School, the convent, and other district schools, with the Casino School Pipe and Fife Band at their head. After the children came the Oddfellows, the Protestant Alliance, and the Hibernians, The whole procession, under an escort of Lancers led by Captain Fanning, escorted the Governor to the site of the railway station. The Governor congratulated the people upon the fact that they now had a railway. From what he had seen he was sure the town would increase and prosper. Although he declared the line open it would not be ready for traffic till July. When it was finished he was sure that with the other lines contemplated it would bring about great prosperity. He regretted the absence of the Premier. He said Sir John Seo had been looking forward to the trip with pleasure, but duty called him away. In conclusion he wished success to the Casino-Lismore line, and also to the Clarence district generally. ... ...
