Anton Kruger was born in Germany in 1852, and died in Brisbane 1917. On his headstone is engraved: Avoid the tears That on my grave are shed Why weep for me in sorrow God heart it well with me O take this word of comfort. God's will be done.

Situated in one of the most delightful portions of Bundaberg, in close proximity to Alexandra Park and the Burnett River, the Convent of Our Lady of Mercy occupies an envious position. The building, specially constructed for collegiate purposes, is in the center of a large area of ground, picturesquely laid out and sheltered with trees and foliage. THE SISTERS OF MERCY CONVENT ON BOURBONG STREET On July 10, 1897, five Sisters of Mercy came to take up teaching duties. They were to remain until lack of numbers forced their withdrawal from schools in the 1980s. The Presentation Sisters also operated a school for a few years in Bundaberg in the 1960s.
