"28 Donaghcumper House and Demesne ... The present house was remodelled in 1835 in the Tudor revival style. Tom Conolly of Castletown leased Donaghcumper in 1803 to extend the estate’s landscape across the river." www.discovercelbridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Disc...

Discover Celbridge page: From the avenue, another of Celbridge’s important houses can be seen: Donaghcumper, former residence of the Kirkpatrick family one of whom played a significant diplomatic role during World War II and its aftermath. I'm guessing they mean Ivone Kirkpatrick, British High Commissioner for Germany after WWII.

Resisting the urge to tag cars (as we are wont to do), but I think there's a VW hatchback (maybe a Jetta or Passat), a Renault 5, and a Micra (or maybe a Fiesta). I can't see the OPW allowing anyone (staff or visitor) to park their hatchbacks out front like that any more. More interesting though is the restoration work on the parapet top right. And the trees. Comparing to the 19th century photo they seem to be the same trees and shrubs. And I suppose why wouldn't they be - after 100 years of care and topiary.

Subpopulus Hibernia 100 years ago the photographer would have had his camera mounted on a tripod complete with spirit level. He would also have a a "rising front" on his camera to avoid the dreaded "converging verticals" we see here. Progress eh?? Bob
