This is Admiral Cameron McRae Winslow (29 July 1854 – 2 January 1932) ref. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameron_Winslow

Thanks! I see that a little more of his name appears in another Bain photo in this set ( www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/2929576774/ ), as well as two more that have not yet been loaded to Flickr ( hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/ggbain.15102 and hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/ggbain.15010 ). We'll add more of his name in the source data and reload the description.

OK Barbara (LOC P&P) - thank you for pointing out the other pics. And especially going to the trouble of running it through the search of other Bain items. Looks like you people in at LOC HQ are shedding your cloak of anonymity.

This photo (or a very similar) is depicted in The Hartford republican., June 26, 1914, Image 2.

Another, undamaged, copy of this Bain/LOC portrait of Admiral Winslow has been posted on Flickr:

Full name is Cameron Winslow. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameron_Winslow

WINSLOW MAY LEAD FLEET'S CANAL TRIP; Officers Expect Head of First Division to Succeed Badger as Commander in Chief -- "Naval officers are of the opinion that when the Atlantic Fleet, with the famous Oregon leading the way, passes from ocean to ocean through the Panama Canal in the early part of 1915, thus marking the opening of the canal to the world's trade, the officer who will stand on the bridge of the superdreadnought Wyoming as Commander in Chief of the Fleet will be Rear Admiral Cameron McR. Winslow." New York Times, September 28, 1913 (How great is it having this online???)

We'll add the additional identification to the source data and reload the description. Thanks!

This photo is depicted in the East Oregonian : E.O., May 02, 1914, DAILY EVENING EDITION, Image 1 and in The Washington times., June 24, 1916, HOME EDITION, Image 1.
