It's actually the Market House and Assembly Rooms, not the courthouse. In my defence, it's about 30 years since I've been there and I didn't pay much attention to which building was what back then.

Aside from the view not being blocked by a load of random stuff, It looks in some respects (e.g. gradient) more like the view up bridge street. I wonder if there was ever an unobstructed view of the markethouse from there. Mind you, that would put the cathederal in the wrong place.

I was looking of information on William J. Baxter in newspaper articles and found one from April 11, 1908 in the Washington Post that said he had been informed that a dog that bit him at the Navy Yard had tested positive for rabies and he would have to undergo treatment.
