[Zack Wheat, Brooklyn NL (baseball)] (LOC)

  • Art Siegel said:
LOC, note spelling of first name is either Zach or Zack on multiple Bain photos of him.
  • Kristi (LOC P&P) said:
Art Siegel, Yes, I noticed the various spellings as well. His name was Zachariah, so the Zach makes sense, but it appears he actually went by Zack. I'm taking the spelling on his Baseball Hall of Fame plaque as reliable, as well as his entry on Baseball Reference. I will put in corrections to bring all the spellings in line as Zack. Thanks for your note.

BHOF plaque does seem like a definitive way to go. Plus, he clearly used Zack in autographs.
