Surprising to see just how little the State Fairs have changed over the years .... save for the enormous rides!

An interesting note on the cavas banners in those days.A very few survive from the 30's thru the end of the 40's.All were hand painted in those days and some have sold in fair condition for 6000.00$.Some painted by very well known artists of the era.Some are absolutely truly a master work.An old one in good condition from a major circus or well known Carni could fetch 10K.....................so if you are lucky enough to have one don't leave it in the barn.

www.cwgc.org.uk Rank:Rifleman Service No:C/12621 Date of Death:17/09/1916 Age:29 Regiment/Service:King's Royal Rifle Corps 21st Bn. Additional Information: Born at Headingley, Leeds. Son of Anny Barker, of Castle View, Grosvenor Gardens, Huby, Weeton, Leeds, and the late George Barker. The 1901 census shows the family living at 29 Cardigan Road, Headingley, Leeds. George was the second of eight children and the eldest son. No occupation is shown. Ten years later the family were still living in Cardigan Road where they occupied ten rooms. George Snr was a Commercial Traveller dealing in dried fruits, sugar & rice and his son had followed in his footsteps.
