This image's date is actually 1905. Kimball was a freelance illustrator who was often contracted by “Scribner's Magazine" in the early 1900s. The completed version of the work on the easel appears in the August 1905 issue of "Scribner's", and the painting resting on the floor (left) appears in the September 1905 issue of Scribner's.
