    Pasquale Amato created the title role in the opera Cyrano, by Walter Damrosch, at the Metropoltian Opera in February 1913.

    My guess would be that this photo was taken on board the liner George Washington, which arrived on October 28, 1912, bearing a number of operatic stars including the three baritones pictured, Antonio Scotti, Pasquale Amato, and William Hinshaw. An article about the event from the New York Times available at this link.
