    The American Legion held their 42nd National Convention in Miami Beach in October, 1960. Their official program had reviews of suggested restaurants and had this to say about Betty's:
    "Betty's Restaurant, 1440 Biscayne Boulevard, is
    famed for her well planned, medium-priced meals
    and the Lobo Lounge is quite the gay spot at
    night."

    State Library of Queensland Oh, people would kill for this caravan today! I love the enamel pail on the left, and the woman's dress (and nice smile!). And is that an address on the far left of the caravan?!

    grytlappar It's pretty neat isn't it? The lettering on the far left says '54 Chesney Caravan Coy.' Neil Chesney set up a small caravan factory in Brisbane in the 1950s. At its peak, Lawnton-based Chesney was Australia’s third-largest caravan manufacturer, employing 400 people and making up to a hundred caravans each week.     beachcomber australia Rectors and curates, more likely. Heaslips generally are COI. There was a Jack Heaslip who was the curate in Malahide for a while, but he'd have been a generation later than this. Coincidentally, he was followed by a Mr Long (I can't remember his christian name). Edit: Kingsley Long - that was his name.

    Mind you, in 1911, all the Kilkenny Longs and the only two Kilkenny Heaslips were RC, so maybe they're priests after all.
