kind of inspiring to see it in it's glory and not a neglected shell. Our family has been in the Land O Lakes for 4 generations now and I recall my grandmother stopping at the corner and going into the Ladies and Escorts for a beer then driving another 40 km to the cottage where there was only an ice box and ice house, no power or phones.

Jan, you are correct by saying the left sign read 'Ladies and Escorts'. We can barely see it in the enlarged photo. Thanks for the comment!

When was this station built? Around 1880's from what I gather online. Is it still around today?

Hey Oaktree_Brian: There is no evidence of the station today. In fact, the tracks have been removed too and is now part of the Trans-Canada trail. The station was built sometime in the early 1920's but more research is needed for an exact date.

the station was to the south of the village just off hwy 7 and to the west of hwy 41. As a kid I used to take the CPR train thru Kaladar to Ardendale Station. All the stations along that line are long gone. Some I recall in the vicinity were Elm Tree and Sulphide to the east and west respectively

Hi Jan - Actually, the station was to the east of Highway 41, about 150 metres south of Highway 7.

this guy was a good photographer.. look at the quality of this photograph. Except for the kids that moved the faces are clear and sharp. Even today it doesn't get much better
