The three men in comfortable armchairs are prince Wilhelm with a white hat, his brother the crown prince Gustav, who was king of Sweden (Gustav VI Adolf) from 1950 to his death in 1973 and their father, who was king (Gustav V) at the time for the photo until he died in 1950. All from the family Bernadotte, one of Napleon's marshals that was invited to become king in Sweden in 1818. The crown prince had died, and measures were taken to save the monarchy.

How could this have been taken in 1910, given that there were no Olympic games that year?

Ray Radlein: 1912 it is! We'll update the year inside the description of the photo. For the Flickr "taken some time in" year, we used "1910" as a placeholder to indicate the decade. We're still figuring out how to provide more specific chronological information as we load photos in batches.

Not a whole lot of "lookers" on the '12 team. That is as homely a group of guys this side of major league baseball. :-)

Looking at the right side of this photo it seems to be missing a part or maybe there is a second photo to get the rest of the team in the long wide panoramic style?

The ship "Finland" was chartered by the U. S. Olympic Committee to carry the American Olympic Team to the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden. It departed New York harbor on June 14, 1912 (the scene photographed above), and served as training and living quarters for the team as it crossed the Atlantic and during the games as well, when it was stationed in Stockholm harbor as a floating hotel.
