YB-49 In Flight

I have been to this aircraft's original crash site outside Edward's air base nearest to MoJave Ca. It is well marked and has a log to sign. If I find my photos I will post them.

A flying sequence of the classic little seen aircraft is featured in the 1950's sci-fi movie, "The War of the Worlds" starring Gene Barry.

This appears to be the second prototype, YB-43 s/n 44-61509. Still exists per the articel, in storage at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. This one has the solid (orange) nose cone, replacing the clear plexiglas original which cracked. See [commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Douglas_XB-43#/media/...] for our nice color restoration.
