James Barnet lived somewhere there - it looks a bit like him but old ... St John's College on right (see note). Royal Prince Albert Hospital on left, with St Andrew's College behind. Confused !

    Strong suspicion that this is James Barnet (1827-1904) and family at home in 'Braeside', Forest Lodge, Glebe. "Barnet was born in Scotland but lived all his Australian years in Glebe (Derwent Street in 1865) and Forest Lodge (Braeside, now demolished – where Officeworks now stands on the corner of Parramatta Road and Ross Street)." glebewalks.com.au/?tb_walk_more_info=james-barnet-1827-1904 As far as I can make out, this location fits. His wife Amy (seated?) died in 1890, so this photo is before then. Barnet would have been 63 in 1890. He had four daughters and three sons - not sure which daughter and/or sons and grandchildren those are - some are referred to at the foot of his ADB biography - adb.anu.edu.au/biography/barnet-james-johnstone-2939

    I think that could be Donald McKay Barnet (b. 1869) in his late teens on the penny-farthing. He was a student at St Andrew's College (in the background) according to the HHT link above.
