  NYTimes reported in 1913: "HEMPSTEAD, L.I., May 22. -- The townsfolk here are waiting with much curiosity for the suffrage pageant which Gen. Rosalie Jones has arranged for next Saturday afternoon. On that day those interested in the suffrage cause, will march from Mineola to this place. At the trolley junction the parade will be reviewed by Assemblyman O'Keefe and officials of Nassau County." Two days later, also in the New York Times: "Hempstead, N.Y., May 24. -- Three miles of public highway between Mineola and Hempstead were crowded this afternoon with a long line of automobiles from all parts of Nassau County as they followed the suffrage pageant, in which 500 women and a few men marched as enthusiastic upholders of the cause."

  There seem to be conflicting dates: New York Times article (above) dated May 22d (a Thursday) ... reports the pageant will be "next Saturday afternoon" (May 24, 1913) ["The parade will start from Mineola at 2:15 o'clock."]. The second New York Times article, dated May 24, 1913, refers to pageant taking place "this afternoon" (Saturday). The date etched into the Bain News Service negative (above) -- as well as on some other negatives apparently taken at the same time -- is "May 25, 1913" (Sunday). Some, such as "Suffrage news girls", appear to bear a date of "May 26, 1913" (Monday).
