    I read the bio - and added a tag, "mule." This doesn't appear to be a horse, folks. Mules are smart and long on endurance.

    It's a horse. This horse is a descendant of the horses that the Spanish brought over and is typically called a "cayouse," after the native tribe that used them. Look at some of Remington's works and you will see that most of the Indian and cow ponys of that time were like this pony. A tough breed and hard worker.

    This is definitely not a mule -- the tag should be removed. It's a horse that's not especially attractive, but not necessarily a cayuse either -- just a good, sturdy horse of mixed breed, apparently roan in color. Frankly as long as the "mule" tag is removed the breed doesn't much matter.
