The Flood mansion now houses the Pacific Union Club: farm4.static.flickr.com/3205/2406911337_a4bafcbf18.jpg I think it was the only one of these buildings to survive the disaster, which happened 11 days before this paper was published.

The Tribune made a couple of caption errors on this page as well. They reversed the captions for the Flood and Huntington houses, and also gave J.C. Flood the wrong middle initial. The Flood house has been altered since the fire, with additions at the sides and the removal of the low tower above the entrance on the California Street side (seen in this photo), but is still easily recognizable. The other side of the Flood house, facing Sacramento Street, can be seen on this Tribune page, where it is misidentified as the Hopkins Art Institute. Collis P. Huntington's house, originally built by David Colton in 1872, was next door to Flood's house on the west. It was a wooden structure which, unlike Flood's substantial brownstone, was entirely consumed by the fire.
