I love this one, such a tranquil scene and so very atmospheric. The two waiting to go out fishing, the long well constructed rowing boats their rowlocks standing out clearly and refelectd in the still water, the little steam pinnace all covered up for the weather and the clarity of the whole thing? This is outstanding! I was wondering if the shade above the stack on the steam boat was early smoke but it is in fact nicely situated weed in the background! Another beauty NLI, so very well chosen to begin our day with!

That's a fabulous exhibition I'll have to save time to go through it but it looks brilliant at first sight! For a 58 year old he looks very frail and elderly. I suspect that if I had used my brain daily as he did I might be more worn out by now as well;-)
