What an unnatural pose! Poor Linda O'Reilly looks like a store-window dummy, with her stiletto stuck in the muck. Is that a genuine 'beehive' hairdo?

Think she must be Mary Caroline Grey (1858-1940), later Mary Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, Countess of Minto, widow of 4th Earl of Minto: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound,_4... archive.gg.ca/gg/fgg/bios/01/minto_e.asp Her father was General Charles Grey: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Grey_%28British_Army_office... (That article has this description, which matches the image above: "She is a tall, slight woman, dresses very artistically, and always wears and has flowers about her.") The widowed countess got engaged to Lord Kitchener in December 1915: news.google.com/newspapers?id=dTguAAAAIBAJ&sjid=G9UFA... paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=EP... But Kitchener died in 1916.

I came to the same conclusion. I think this is an (in 1915) already older photograph. There are several photographs of her in the newspapers, e.g. as vicereine of India in 1905 (Los Angeles herald [microform]., September 03, 1905, Page 7) or in The times dispatch., January 08, 1905, MAGAZINE SECTION, Image 31 In Aberdeen herald., August 11, 1910, Page THREE she was described as "the most beautiful woman in England" (with no further text !) In an article from 1910 she looks already slightly older (Omaha daily bee., May 01, 1910, HALF-TONE, Page 2). In 1915 she is shown together with Kitchener and her daughter in Omaha daily bee., December 21, 1915, Image 1.
