Jorge Andre of Hamburg, Germany, married Miss Laura Virginia Webb (b 1892), the only daughter of Francis Egerton Webb (b 1867) and Mary Welsh Randolph Webb (b 1868), in New York City, January 1914. They had two children, Jorge Rudolph Andre (1914-1955), and Alice Alexandra Andre Floyd-Jones (1916-1993). The timing of this photo, taken between those two births, might explain her very weary expression. ;) Her son Jorge Jr. seems to have married the former wife of Daniel E. Ryan - Jorge Andre was not titled. Every reference I can find to him is Mr. Jorge R Andre. Perhaps the photographer was confused. Jorge Andre is listed as an inventor in the 1915 NY state census (?), a banker in the US 1920 census ... he may have been given a job in his father-in-law's bank. In the 1940 census, Virginia is listed as widowed.

The New York Times reported that Countess de Bertier and her infant son Arnaud were sailing aboard the Lusitania from London to New York, departing January 3, 1914. [1] Both the Countess and her husband were active supporters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Count Albert Bertier de Sauvigny was a member of the IOC representing France. [2] [3]

nudecowboy, I have been trying to convince Wystan (finally successfully!) that www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/4257086948/ is on the Lusitania (not far from this picture, I guess) and not on JP Morgan's Corsair III.

Yesterday the search was bringing back very incomplete results (and NONE for "lusitania" for a while) and I didn't run in to this picture and your model. That would clearly have led me to the expert. I did find the distinctive windows in another photo, which seemed to "nail it" for Wystan. But, anyway, here is fodder for your maritime obsession!!
