Repairing or perhaps installing? Looking south from the Spit up Parriwi Road, Mosman, which used to be the main road and tramway. Google street view - maps.google.com.au/maps?ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Sydney+...

If it is installing the tram wires, then this is September / October 1900. See and archivesoutside.records.nsw.gov.au/can-you-date-this-phot... .

The Spit, Middle Harbour

Note the vehicular ferry, pre-dating the first "Spit Bridge". Note also the absence of all the now reclaimed land on the right of the sand spit, and that the main access is by Parriwi Road. The large number of street poles would indicate that the electric tram was in place, although I can't see one.
