Note the vehicular ferry and the "loop" type tram terminus.

That bridge looks narrow, it is probably the one with the big ugly truss, although it is not very visible from this direction. There seem to be quite a lot of houses on the other side. There are two rows of recently planted trees in the park. I will guess, 1939.

This is the second (1958) bridge; regardless, trams never ran across the Spit Bridge; those trams in use on the Manly side were transported over the Spit on a special tram-carrying punt …

Note the vehicular ferry, pre-dating the first "Spit Bridge". Note also the absence of all the now reclaimed land on the right of the sand spit, and that the main access is by Parriwi Road. The large number of street poles would indicate that the electric tram was in place, although I can't see one.

Good photo but I disagree with the title. The Spit Bridge links Mosman and Seaforth, Manly is further down the road.

Peter Geddes I agree, definitely not in Manly. The picture is taken from Seaforth, so the title might be "The Spit Bridge viewed from Seaforth".
