trove.nla.gov.au/work/247379646 - Trove link to slide at PHM... The warehouse seen here at the corner of Carrington/Wynyard Sts was built for Lark & Son. The original building was completed in ?1893...it was acquired by softgoods merchants Paterson Laing & Bruce in 1899, who then made additions, which were completed in 1900. More substantial additions along Carrington St, which almost doubled the size of the building, were made in ca. 1920. The building is seen here prior to the 1900 additions...which added 2 stories and a square tower at the Northern end, etc... The building also appears in this pic pre the 1900 additions www.flickr.com/photos/powerhouse_museum/2363533740/

Re the Wynyard Building, 38-44 Carrington St...there's precious little info available on-line re when it was built...however, this pic taken at the time of the unveiling of the Rev John Dunmore Lang statue on 26th January, 1891...shows the space the Wynyard Building later occupied is vacant...it's difficult to tell whether it's a vacant allotment...or whether some building work might be in progress... www.flickr.com/photos/statelibraryofnsw/43986728215/ If you then go to the digitised newspapers you find that adverts placed by tenants in the Wynyard Building start appearing in February 1892...though the first reference I've found to the building as the Wynyard Building is in early 1893...prior to then it was referred to by its address...
