That telephone number was a big hit at the time being so easy to remember. They were known as "The Sixes" and indeed they were a good company to call. Great to see the old cars on display, the Ford Zodiac just out of shot and I can't remember the model of the Vauxhall your driver is leaning on

Swordscookie And they were still called The Sixes or All the Sixes long after the 7 got added at the start of the number in the 1970s, Sean, I think.

In the background you can see the big MH for the Mater Hospital Pools which is very appropriate given the court case at the moment on the Govt. cutting off funding to the private lotteries wiped out by the National Lottery. There was a lot of work going on at the bank on Parnell St./Cavendish Row which has featured in some great discussions on here.

I see the steering wheel is on the right, though the scene looks kind of American.

"Jitney" = "nickel," for those unfamiliar with early 20th century Americanish.

I can't find anything on these two women.
There was a jitney bus (i.e., shared-ride, independent, unorganized 5 cent public transportation) craze in America in 1914 and 1915. The March 30, 1915 New York Times ran a long story on the phenomenon, noting there were at least some female entepreneurs involved. At that point, there were not jitneys in New York City, but the article said they were "at our gates."

Wonderful art deco shot. Who would have thought taxis could look like a Busby Berkeley routine? Except for the fellow at the front, who should have his coat buttoned.
