See beachcomberaustralia's link - it's a double-up, posted to flickr nearly a year apart - they both link to the same persistent URL.

This isn't Surry Hills, but Darlinghurst. I used to get a good view of the buildings as I approached along Womerah Avenue, on my may to work in Paddington when I lived in Elizabeth Bay. The view is from Liverpool Street, with West Street branching off at right between the two buildings - both of which still exist. The building at right, 431 Liverpool Street, was erected in 1884 by Austin Kinnane, General Grocer.

So not only should 'Surrey Hills' be 'Surry Hills' as you've noticed, but 'Surry Hills' should be 'Darlinghurst'! -

pellethepoet Thanks, that saved me hours of frustrating and distracting GoogleMapsStreetViewing. The photographer had a good eye for interesting perspectives. Always reminded of the Yogi Berra quote, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

beachcomber australia The Robur Tea sign reminds me of Stephen Fry on QI, "I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle, — oh bugger, I'm a sugar bowl!"
