And now we pull down on the lever, Cast our ballots and we endeavor To improve our country, state, county, town, and school. (Tell 'em 'bout it!) Those pilgrim women who ... Who braved the boat Could cook the turkey, but they ... They could not vote. Even Betsy Ross who sewed the flag was left behind that first election day. (What a shame, Sisters!) Then Susan B. Anthony (Yeah!) and Julia Howe, (Lucretia!) Lucretia Mott, (and others!) they showed us how; They carried signs and marched in lines Until at long last the law was passed. How could have American men been so stupid to keep women from voting until 1919? Unbelievable. We had human beings as SLAVES until Lincoln's time, and we had women unable to vote until 1919, and some places in the South would not let Blacks vote until the 1950's

And why did women /allow/ this to continue? You go grls! Kick ass! (No black women in the marchers, you can be sure).

I am a male, but I wish they would have made a law that every other election would have women candidates only. Perhaps we would have gotten into fewer wars.
