    I think we have a date 5/9/91 - 5th September 1891 - it was a Saturday. And thanks to Trove, it was the Arrival of the (first?) Australian Auxiliary Fleet. Seven ships - KATOOMBA, TAURANGA, and WALLAROO in one line, and RINGAROOMA, MILDURA, BOOMERANG, and KARRAKATTA in another line.     Namoi was not a ferry she was a coastal passenger ship NAMOI 1,416 gross tons, 809 net. Lbd: 245'2" x 31'6" x 21'7". Steel paddle steamer built by J Key & Sons, Kinghorn for the Hunter River New S N Co Ltd., Sydney. 2 funnels, compounded oscillating engine producing 350 horsepower. December 1884 transferred over to the Newcastle & Hunter River S N Co. Worked the Sydney - Hunter River route as a passenger - cargo vessel all her career. Placed in reserve 1923 with register closed in 1925 when she was hulked. Remains scuttled June 1933 off Sydney Heads
