Unfortunately not the HESPERUS of the famous Longfellow poem and saying 'The Wreck of the Hesperus'. Completed in 1874, the first iron ship built for the Orient Line, she was a regular visitor to Australia. More here - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/63751723

beachcomber australia Yes that would have been interesting - Longfellow's 'The Wreck of the Hesperus' has certainly entered pop culture over the years. You know you've made it if both Mad Magazine and Daffy Duck are using your material :)

Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons Not to mention the Marx Brothers and the Simpsons too! Of interest is that this HESPERUS was sold to Russian owners in Odessa in 1899, and was renamed GRAND DUCHESS MARIA NIKOLAEVNA after the Tsar's third daughter, born in 1899 - she was known as the 'beautiful' one - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Duchess_Maria_Nikolaevna_of_R...(1899%E2%80%931918) More history and London to Sydney times - www.bruzelius.info/Nautica/Ships/Merchant/Sail/H/Hesperus(1873).html

Possibly an Irish Terrier? (Many dog breeds have changed in the intervening 100 years...)

beachcomber australia Not definitive, but L_CAB_05400 and L_CAB_05401 are Kinsale Harbour, and L_CAB_05402 is Kinsale Barracks.
