Very interesting and detailed article, thanks. The church, attended by the Rockefellers, was replaced by a newer building in 1930, and was on West 57th Street, near Carnegie Hall. White's action (with 20 of his followers) at the church was in response to the Ludlow Massacre in Colorado, which had taken place on April 20th. A more sympathetic account of White's actions that day (for which he served 6 months in jail) is told here: www.archive.org/stream/fromprisoletters00whitrich/frompri... When supporters petitioned Governor Glynn for his pardon, he wrote the governor to assure him that he was not sorry for his actions: "" Repentant ! " I am, sir, the most unrepentant pris- oner a New York City jail ever sloughed into a cell. Let another Ludlow massacre happen, I would repeat my deed to-morrow. So far from life in prison having wrought in me a penitential work, it has tightened and reenforced in me a remonstrant mood."

Ironically, they seem very well behaved.

I have trouble imagining anarchists as the sort of people who would wear straw boaters.
