    The written details at the top indicate the date of the photo as10th September 1938, taken in Mark Foy's Emporium Ball Room. Note I've added several tags including BERRIES which is what the league team and club was known as prior to 1980 or so and BULLDOGS which is what they're known as nowadays.

    The player on the left has been whited out so that this part of the photograph could be reproduced in the text of a magazine as an illustration. Rather than reproduce a regular four sided part of the photograph with background included, it was fashionable to reproduce only the figure on the white page in some newspapers and magazines. RW
