eibmul Absolutely take your point about distance, but our Clonbrock Collection photos were taken in and around Clonbrock Estate at Ahascragh by members of the Dillon family...

I could be wrong but that looks like seaweed at the base of the wall which would indicate that it was taken when the tide was out. Perhaps it was taken during a day out at the seaside. Very sheltered harbour as the stone wall would not have taken heavy waves too well.Looks like the two men are about to go to work on it with their knives.It's a wonderful collection of photos and thanks for displaying them. Pity the old house was destroyed by fire in 1902. You must have the finest family album around for those times.

eibmul From the looks of that wall, it's more likely to be a tidal estuary - so perhaps a bit inland but still tidal? Trying to meet you in the middle here - somewhere between the coast and Ahascragh... :) More than welcome on the displaying/sharing of the photos - it's gives us great pleasure, and helps so much in what we know about them.
