The MARIPOSA docked at Circular Quay East on 16th July 1934 and the following day, 17th July, the floating crane TITAN unloaded Kingsford Smith's aeroplane onto a barge for transport to Anderson Park, Neutral Bay.
The reference to Woolloomooloo in an error.

avro99 Yes, the shipping intelligence indicates the Mariposa was berthed at Circular Quay No. 2 wharf...which is where this pic was taken...

I gather this pic (below) might have been taken shortly before the Mariposa departed from the US...
    - SMH, 19th July, 1934...item re the authorities moving to stop Kingsford Smith using the name 'ANZAC'...

It certainly looks like a Ryan Brougham B-7 (odd looking engine cowling to me though) so NC723M should be OK Stig

Nice! (Thanks) Still looks odd to me. A Ryan should have an open engine (without cowling) and a nice spinner. Now it looks like something which has run into a brickwall... :-)) Stig
