The color is off,but this might be due to the materials available at the time, or because of deterioration over the years. The photographer did capture a good pattern of repeating shapes, straight and curved. The composition as a whole is very pleasing to the eye.

The Library of Congress did not seem to take the time to color correct these old photos. But a few moments in Photoshop and you can see how truly beautiful and remarkable these photos were when they were taken.

I notice that the colors are a bit dark, but I still think that the essence of the pictures are still captured in their entirety.

On recommendation of friends I visited in Paonia (in Delta County) in 2016 I stopped in the town of Delta to buy a box of them, here's the true color (and the taste was divine)

The boxes the peaches are going in are brand new. I never saw a new one when I was a kid. Interesting.

On many orchards the boxes were new as they were made at the locations to hold all that fruit!

I moved to this area at age 4 in 1948, not too many years after these pictures were taken. I lived among the apple, peach cherry and pear orchards (and worked in them--that was hard) until I got out of HS in 1962. I never saw this many new fruit boxes in a row in all that time. There was a sawmill in Delta, between 7 & 15 miles away, but to my knowlege they made no boxes there. Most of the oldtimers there have died and so has much of the history. I'm intrigued by the strangest things.

This picture just made my mouth water. Western slope peaches beat the tar out of Georgia peaches any day.
