  The boxes the peaches are going in are brand new. I never saw a new one when I was a kid. Interesting.

  I never knew so many peaches were grown in colorado

  On many orchards the boxes were new as they were made at the locations to hold all that fruit!

  I moved to this area at age 4 in 1948, not too many years after these pictures were taken. I lived among the apple, peach cherry and pear orchards (and worked in them--that was hard) until I got out of HS in 1962. I never saw this many new fruit boxes in a row in all that time. There was a sawmill in Delta, between 7 & 15 miles away, but to my knowlege they made no boxes there. Most of the oldtimers there have died and so has much of the history. I'm intrigued by the strangest things.

  I grew up fairly close to the giant peach and can confirm it is real and often joked about. It is visible when traveling on Interstate 85.
