January 29, 1913, Wednesday Page 1, 146 words A romantic Christmas marriage came to light tonight when Howard c. Sykes of the senior class of the Sheffield Scientific School of Yale send word from Paris that he and Miss Jeanette C. McIlwayne of Wheeling, West Va., were married in New York City during the holidays, and that he would not return to Yale. The couple met in a New Jersey town, and, after a brief courtship, were married and went abroad. The bride is a granddaughter of Gen. Crook, the Indian fighter, and a niece of Gen. Kelly. Sykes lives at 346 West Seventy-first Street, New York City. He was a leading scholarship member of his class, and belonged to the secret society York Hall.
