Edison being awarded honorary membership in the Illuminating Engineering Society for his invention of the incandescent bulb and electric lighting systems. The award was made at the Society's convention in New York on February 10th, 1916 at the Hotel Biltmore by John W. Lieb, (as reported by the New York Times, not John L. Lieb, as on the caption) vice president of New York Edison Company. A speech honoring Edison was made by Charles Steinmetz.

Lincoln, President [American Institute of Electrical Engineers]1914-1915 -- Westinghouse engineer - joined [Niagara Falls] Cataract Construction 1896 to 1902 as operating superintendent and later as resident electrician . Involved with Power House 1 and transmission to Buffalo. Invented the synchroscope . Returned to Westinghouse and later became Professor-Director in charge of Department of Electrical Engineering at Cornell [1922-1938]."
