Horse Show - 1912 (LOC)

This is a very interesting photo on how horse show were done in the early nineteen hundred's. It also goes to show how far we've come in making these events more entertainable and coming up with new ideas like dog shows.

J. Palmer's Humber cycles shop, Newtown

I'm stuggling to determine where this is in Newtown, from the bottom half of the building on the very right, it looks like the photo could have been taken from the High Street and looking up to what's now Shortbridge Street, if this is the case, the J. Palmer's Humber Cycles building would have completely disappeared, replaced by a road and behind it now serves as the town centre clock and Barclays Bank. The next time I pass I will take a photo for comparison.

It looks as if you're right! I'd say that the town clock and Barclays is situated where the J.Palmer shop is in this photo. It is very confusing!!

I have taken a photo of the same area as it was in July 2009. There's quite a difference, but I'm 99% certain it's the same location. I couldn't get the angle identical because there would have been a phone box in the way.

Hi, Thanks for your comments and also for taking this additional photograph. I'm sure that the Flicker enthusiasts will be interested in comparing both images.
