Our first non-clydebuilt steamer. This one seems to be from Liverpool (I'm waiting for the evidence to download).

"A new steamer built at Liverpool P.S. Sybil (233 tons) replaced P.S. Meteor and became the youngest packet vessel at the Milford station in 1827. She was also the fastest steamer on the crossing with a record of 8 hours 13 minutes for a sailing between Milford and Dunmore East. " Hmm. I'm not sure that ship looks 70 years old.

In 1891 drilling commenced on a bore to supply Thargomindah with water and in 1893 an exceptionally good supply was struck at 808 meters (2650 feet) with the water at 84 degrees Celsius. The bore was the source of energy for Australia’s first hydroelectric scheme to produce street lighting when in 1893 Thargomindah’s streets were lit by means of a generator coupled to a water turbine driven by the bore’s natural water pressure. They are third in the world to Paris and London to have street lighting generated by Hydro Power! Thargomindah was the first town to have reticulated Artesian Bore water. The picture is incredible. I have studied it at it's original size and every detail offers a different impression of what life was like. So much information preserved in sepia. I have seen nothing like it in moving pictures and can only imagine than no one would believe it if you recreated it for film. I feel fortunate to have been able to see this. Thank you.
