    Costume Party, New York City, January, 1914. These probably were celebrites of the New York arts community. Mrs. J. M. Flagg, for example, would be the wife of the artist James Montgomery Flagg, who is remembered now as the delineator of an iconic portrait of "Uncle Sam," in a WWI-era recruiting poster (often parodied) in which Sam points a finger at the viewer while declaring "I WANT YOU / FOR U.
