BRISBANE MAN WINS 1941 SULMAN PRIZE Mr. Dougias S. Annand, of Sydney, won the Sir John Sulman prize for 1941, announced the Director of the Sydney National Art Gallery (Mr. Will Ashton) yesterday. The mural with which he won this award was one of a series which Mr. Annand painted at the Bathurst Boys' Public School last year. Mr. Annand, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. G. Annand, of Brisbane, trained and began his career as a commercial artist in Brisbane. Later he went to Sydney, where his work as a decorative and commercial artist has won wide praise. In conjunction with another Sydney artist, he designed the prize-winning poster for the opening of the Sydney Harbour bridge. This poster had world-wide distribution. He was commissioned to do murals for the Australian sections at both the New York World Fair, and the New Zealand Centenary Exhibition.
