    The 6th October was a Monday in 1879, 1884, and 1890 (see note) using www.easycalculation.com/date-day/day-of-year.php . I checked Trove for Canterbury Park Races for 1879 - no useful result 1884 - the races happened in September that year 1890 - BINGO! races were "continued" on Monday 6/10/1890 - SMH p.3 - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/13794285 So, surprisingly, this is Sept/Oct 1890.
