As far as I can tell, "Smith's Wharf" was on the western edge of Millers Point - we are looking south up Darling Harbour. The wharf was redeveloped shortly after, as in this 1903 photo of the reverse view, then known as Dalgety's Wharf -
The amazing thing is that John Degotardi Jnr the photographer managed to make a routine photo of a barge clearing rubbish from a wharf into an interesting study in composition, perspectives, light and shapes. I bet he was also responsible for the photo above and these -

This map shows the location of Smith's Wharf, the same location as the "new" Dalgety's Wharf opened in 1903 after the Darling Harbour Resumptions - Plan E, Map of Resumption Area bounded by Darling Harbour, Port Jackson, Kent Street North, Windmill Street, and Bettington Street (Within section 92), 03 May 1900.

A very roundabout way is to go to: Archives Investigator --> Advanced Search --> 19348 (in Series Number) then you will see Plan E in the list of Items. AB
