HMS Ghurka at sea

Was the tribe's name not spelled "Gurkha" ?
  • Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums said:
The modern spelling is certainly 'Gurkha'. The destroyer launched in 1907 was HMS Ghurka but interestingly the next warship to take the name (launched in 1937) was spelt Gurkha.
