A strange directional loop antenna? I cannot explain the tubular geometry, though.

The conch shell lamps on the right seem out of place.

I'm sure there is some vintage-radio expert out there who can speculate what this setup does? Some of the gear looks modified or handmade. But at the far right is what I believe is a WWI-era Navy receiver, the SE-1220 from a Wireless Specialty Apparatus Co. (photo towards the bottom of this page, and see the first two Google Books search results).

Also known in its civilian version the IP-500.

This is quite possibly radio inventor James Harris Rogers who presented a nearly identical antenna to a celebrated broadcaster c.1924. Also note that the radio receivers and cluttered laboratory in the Rogers image match the one above.

A railway station?

Not a railway station, a sports arena, convention center, and exhibition hall.

This is the second building with that name, and was located on Wabash Avenue, between 14th and 16th Streets until it was demolished in the 1980's. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Coliseum

The 1912 Progressive Party ("Bull Moose") Convention was held at this same venue in August. It nominated former President Teddy Roosevelt for President and Governor Hiram Johnson of California for Vice President. Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, won the election in November.

The Google Maps marker for the Coliseum is incorrect. It shows the Coliseum as between 16th and 18th Streets, but it was actually on the east side of Wabash between 14th and 16th Streets (per the Wikipedia article). A Buddhist center called Soka Gakka International and its parking lots are now on the site. Coliseum Park (which commemorates the Coliseum) is located acros the street on the southwest corner of 14th Place and Wabash.

I always thought "Bristol Fashion" meant there were two !

It's not looking immediately familiar, which generally means Cork or Kerry somehwere. With the skyline cropped like that, you never know how many mountains are missing form the background.

Though having said that, most of the Lawrence stereo pairs seem to be in Down.
